Well, So It All Comes Down To Prayer……

Ever found yourself in a position where you felt that the only thing left to do was to just pray?  You know what I mean, all else tried and failed; not sure what is to come next; no answers to be found anywhere; wondering if God is even listening anymore?

Well then, it does all comes down to prayer!  That is it.  There is nothing more to be said.  So why do we seem disappointed when it all comes down to just prayer?  Are we without faith?  Are we ready to give up? Well, the truth is the answer to both questions, if we are honest with ourselves, is YES!  We are human, we are products of the fall, we are sin and we live in sin and the world  is sin!  So what on earth are we to do?  According to many writers we should do just what Jesus did, and that is to pray.

There are at least 17 instances of Jesus praying recorded in the gospels.  For Jesus, he…

  • prayed often;
  • prayed early in the morning, late at night, all night;
  • prayed before critical events; and
  • prayed for others;

At Pilgrim Church we have a custom of praying at 6:33.  The 6:33 is based on Matthew 6:33 – seek first the kingdom of God.  I recently through our aLiVeWiReFoRuM participants invited ALL to join the aLiVeWiRePrAyErTeAm to pray daily at 6:33pm for our church leaders, staff and volunteers.  To ask God to bless and keep those who serve in these positions, to give them wisdom and grace and to reveal her vision for our community for others.

I urge you to join with us in solemn prayer for all church leaders, staff and volunteers as we continue in uncertain times in our communities, our nation and our world.  Jesus promises us in John 14:13 , “…I will do whatever you ask in my name..”

So, it all comes down to prayer and thanks be to God that it does, so then let us pray.
